Hello, my name is Joel and over twenty years ago I started a new kind of garage with Boyd. Boyd and I used our first initials to form the name BJ’s. After a couple of years, Boyd decided to leave the business and I became the sole owner. At the time, fuel injection was beginning to replace carburetors on automobiles. Instead of simple mechanical systems controlling the engine, computers now controlled the engine. So to fix a problem with an engine, you needed to understand mechanical theory as well as computer theory. I worked in the computer industry as an engineering technician for fifteen years before starting BJ’s Auto so I was very comfortable fixing computer controlled mechanical devices.
We started out as a garage that could fix the strange and difficult problems that no one else could. Customers liked our service and wanted us to take care of all of their service needs. BJ’s has grown to into a full service garage with many loyal customers.
Now I’m trying something new; I’m going to blog about keeping vehicles well maintained without wasting money. With the down turn in the economy, I have seen some very aggressive selling of unneeded automotive services. I’ll tell some stories about what I see happening.
